We recommend that before you even start to think about what type of Sussex marquee to hire, you first of all give some consideration to the following questions:  1) What is the purpose or objective of the event that you are planning?  2)  What would be the most suitable venue or location for your event? 3) How many guests are you planning to invite? 4) What is your budget for the event? 

 1. Purpose of Your Sussex Event.

The type of event that you are organizing will to a certain extent influence the type and size of marquee that is suitable for your event. Try and think not just about the event itself, eg. 21st birthday party, product launch, Halloween, wedding, beer tent, etc, but what sort of activities would you want to facilitate inside your Sussex marquee.

Will the guests be standing up or sitting down? If a meal is going to be served, will it be a formal sit down meal or a buffet? Will there be dancing and if so, will you have a DJ or a band ? Will stages or raised platforms be needed ? Will you be having a bar inside the marquee ? Do you want the marquee to be decorated (eg, for a wedding, themed party, or with corporate branding etc) ? If the marquee is for temporary storage space, how secure does it need to be ? Would a reception area be desirable/useful ? Will you need a service tent ? Would seperate areas be needed inside the marquee, eg. for children or staff etc. ?

Clearly these suggestions cannot cover everything, and the specifics will vary considerably depending on the type of event being planned, but hopefully,  the questions raised will help to focus your thoughts about exactly what you require from your Sussex marquee hire.

2. Location of Event.

You may have not chosen the actual venue in Sussex yet, but the site for your event will affect the kind of marquee that will be the most suitable. Will the marquee be indoors or outside ? Will it be on a hard surface or on grass ? Will the marquee be located on a level surface, or will it need to go over a sloping surface (eg. a rockery), or an unusual one (eg. swimming pool) ? Is it going to be on your own land, or on somebody else’s, and will permission/approval be needed from other parties who could be impacted by the marquee construction?

There might be some flexibility over the number of guests depending on what you need to have inside the marquee, or the cost of various marquee choices and accessories. As a general rule, you should allow a minimum of 15 sq ft per person for a seated event, and 8 sq ft per person for any standing event.

4. Your Budget

Although for some of our clients, the end result is more important than working faithfully to a budget, we normally advise that it is advisable to set a budget for the event right at the start. It is helpful to us, and normally easier for you to know early doors what the parameters and guidelines are .
